The years have sped by.....I believe I have been reading aloud to kids for over 43 years. First to my siblings, as the oldest of six kids. Then to our own kids, their friends, and now to our grandkids, preschoolers, and others that I teach. It is a joy and delight! I would like to use this blog to share some of the many special books I have read, and continue to read to children- from infants on up. Hope it will be helpful and interesting!

There is a poem by Sara Teasdale,

Barter

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.

This poem has always reminded me of what it is like, reading to a group of children- and looking down at them, seeing the wonder in their faces. The photo is of me with a grandson, when he was young, enjoying a book with me, in our special reading chair. He was captivated!
