I picked up a book at a book sale that I read in Kindergarten yesterday- it was a real hit.

I Want to be a Teacher, by Carla Greene, illustrated by Vie Johnson, published in 1957. The illustrations are absolutely wonderful- bright and enjoyable!

A neat story of kids and their teacher- captures their attention on the first page- "Mary is going to school. She has a bottle in her pocket. There are five dead flies in the bottle. Mary will give the flies to the turtle." The kids I were reading to were hooked right there!!! They loved this story of Mister T, the turtle and Mister C, the chameleon, and the nice teacher, Miss Jones. This is an old book, but can be bought from sellers on Amazon.
I like this book, and looking up Carla Greene on Bookfinder.com, I see that she wrote many books- I Want to be a Mechanic, I Want to be a Dentist, I Want to Be a Ship Captain," and many more. Old books like these are fun to find at book sales, garage sales, and so on, and are worth having- children love them!
